GASTROINTESTINAL SURGICAL PATHOLOGY This course include of a practical review of selected subjects in diagnostic surgical and endoscopic pathology of the gastrointestinal tract for pathologists, pathology residents, gastroenterologists, and gastroenterology fellows preparing for boards. In addition to lectures on neoplastic and non-neoplastic diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, the course includes over 10 hours of microscopy examine by a gastrointestinal scopes based on a unique collection of hundreds of endoscopic biopsies. GASTROENTEROLOGY Conscious of the importance of this subject, we offer a gastroenterology program, which includes the process of the pathologies of the digestive tract and the liver, as well as the common means of diagnosis such as video-endoscopy procedures. GASTROINTESTINAL DIAGNOSTIC CAPABILITIES Specialized endoscopic procedures - including colonoscopy, gastroscopy, sigmiodoscopy, duodenoscopy and such as slight bowel enteroscopy - give hospital physicians the ability to accurately diagnose patient abnormalities, without the added risk of exploratory surgery. These intricate scopes are used for certain surgical procedures, too. Our gastrointestinal program also offers some of the latest diagnostic procedures not offered at most hospitals including small bowel capsule endoscopy, in which a pill-like device with a small camera is used to photograph the small intestine. This innovative procedure helps diagnose previously undetectable abnormalities that can cause gastrointestinal bleeding. Saint Joseph also uses endoscopic ultrasonography, a state-of-the-art procedure for the diagnosis and treatment of digestive system cancer or tumors and disorders of the pancreas, gall bladder, esophogus, stomach and colon or rectum. Specialized tests also are performed to discover causes of chest pain unrelated to the heart and swallowing difficulties.

ENDOSCOPY is the overall term for looking inside the body. The two main forms of endoscopy performed at Three Rivers Endoscopy Center are Gastroscopy looking inside the stomach and Colonoscopy looking inside the colon and rectum. These are commonly referred to as scope tests. As you might expect, the instrument used to perform a gastroscopy exam is called the gastrointestinalscopes like gastroscope. Colonoscopy is performed using a colonoscope. their engineers have made tremendous progress in the fields of miniaturization, computers, and fiberoptics and today’s modern gastrointestinalscopes instruments allow amazingly clear views of the inner digestive organs.UPPER GASTROINTESTINAL ENDOSCOPY is a procedure that allows the doctor to visually examine the upper portions of the gastrointestinal tract, using a flexible tool called an endoscope. The endoscope has a light source and projects an image on a video screen. An endoscope may also be used to assist with other diagnostic exams and procedures. For instance, an ultrasound probe can be placed on the end of the endoscope to evaluate how deeply a tumor has penetrated the esophagus or wall of the stomach. An endoscope may be used to assist with placement of a permanent feeding tube or to treat a bleeding ulcer.
